ST9 SPACE RACE

One Giant Step
The Soviet Union was the first country to put an artificial object into outer space. The United States followed shortly after with their own satellites. The race to put a man on the moon had begun. Monkeys and a dog orbited the earth before human beings ever went into outer space. In 1969 the United States became the first country to put a man on the moon.
