Even
as the first atomic bomb was being used to
end World War II, scientists were looking at
nuclear energy as a future source of power.
They believed that the same energy that could
be so destructive could also serve peacetime
purposes. By 1960 there were several nuclear
power stations in use and many more were
planned. |
