International Trade Administration
The Department of Commerce’s ITA monitors the buying and selling of computer parts to and from the United States. This site shows their data for recent years. The first of two tables gives the exports of semiconductors, or those chips made in the U.S. and sold abroad. The numbers are given in thousands of U.S. dollars, so 6,822,527 is actually $6,822,527,000. The second table gives the number of imported semiconductors, or those purchased from foreign sources and sold in the U.S.
