The ancient Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to develop advanced mathematics. Egyptian mathematicians used a system that was based on the number ten, like ours. Unlike ours, however, it was not a place-value system. Before looking at Egyptian mathematics, look at the hieroglyphs they used to represent their numbers. |
