ST9 JAINISM

Centers of Jainism Today
This map shows the areas of India where Jainism is practiced by at least 2 percent of the population. Jainism, a reaction to the religious beliefs of the Brahmins, was founded during the 500s B.C. People who practice this religion are called Jains. They believe in nonviolence and will not harm anything in nature because each thing has a soul. For this reason, they are vegetarians.
