A Day That Changed the World

Few people have forgotten the September 11, 2001 attacks. We watched on television as the attacks unfolded, horrified by the terrible clarity of the images.

When that day began, we had no idea that by the end of it, our innocent belief—that nothing like this could happen in the United States—would be transformed to shock, then to grief, and finally to a determination to prevail over those who would terrorize us.
