An advertisement convinces people to buy a product or service. To create an effective ad, you must first analyze your target market. Then, use emotional and logical appeals that will attract the target market.
 
Many advertisements use the structure illustrated in the framework below. Print this framework and use it as a guide when you write your own advertisement.
   
 
    Slogan
Hook your audience At the top of your ad, write a catchy statement that will attract your target audience. Keep your slogan short and write it in large letters.  
 
    Image
Say it in pictures Use an image—a photograph, a drawing, or clip art—as the focal point of your ad. You might choose an image that shows why your product or service is needed. Make sure your image stands out from the crowd.

Action
Make your pitch Create a statement that will convince your audience that your product or service can help them. You might use one of the most common persuasive techniques: bandwagon, testimonial, emotional appeal, plain folks, or snob appeal.
Explain Describe your product or service vividly, using words that emphasize its positive aspects.
Give logical reasons Include reasons that will convince your audience to buy the product or service. Remember to appeal to your target audience.
Seal the deal Urge the audience to buy your product or service, and tell them where they can buy it.
